Creating music for women, by women
— Alyssa Wendzel

Alyssa Wendzel, a.k.a. WENDZELLE, is a pop, R&B, and dance songwriter hailing from a small beach town called San Clemente, CA. She works betweenSouthern CA and the San Francisco Bay Area. Her passion is writing music that empowers both the artist and the audience.

Alyssa began her music career back in 2012 during her time at the University of California at Berkeley, in an indie-rock duo called Ordinary Thieves. Together, the band created an EP entitled "Abandon," (released in 2014) and an LP called "Furthest Point From Here," (released in October 2015). After 4 years of band life, Alyssa embarked on a new adventure in her music career - songwriting and producing music for television and recording artists.

Alyssa’s main focus is songwriting for female recording artists. She creates songs emphasizing female empowerment, while still expounding on the complexity and diversity of human emotion. Art is the perfect vehicle for turning challenge into purpose, weakness into strength. Alyssa’s songs often tackle difficult issues, while still bringing the singer and listener to a place of healing and encouragement.

With writing marrying catchiness with cohesive, clever lyrics, Alyssa is currently an in-house songwriter at Focal Productions, Inc., a production house in the Bay Area. Additionally, she is now releasing her own music under the pseudonym “WENDZELLE”.

Her most recent releases can be heard in the MUSIC section of this website.

“Make Up Your Mind” - Wendzelle

On January 1st, 2021, WENDZELLE released her second single, “Make Up Your Mind”.  Initially slated for release with another artist, and plagued by 2 years of production woes, the persistence of this song’s message prevailed. “Make Up Your Mind” is a dance-pop anthem promoting female empowerment and owning one’s self-worth. The track encourages listeners to “make up their minds” to be treated with respect and dignity. “Make Up Your Mind” was inspired by memories from Alyssa’s past relationships - relationships marked by anger, manipulation, and violence. As this track tackles domestic violence, Alyssa has partnered up with Laura’s House of Orange County to donate 50% of profits from streams and sales to the organization to help women and children facing abuse. So make up your mind to listen today & help out women and children in need!

Excuses (FINAL COVER).jpg

“Excuses” - Wendzelle x Lowsh

Created in collaboration with Seattle producer / DJ LOWSH, “Excuses” is a fun House / Pop genre clash made for dancing. Since we can’t hit the clubs during this pandemic, “Excuses” encourages listeners to dance solo, safely at home. Written in collaboration Alyssa Wendzel and Aleksey Weyman, this track takes a dark, London-club music vibe and adds catchy lyrics to keep you begging for more excuses to listen.

Empty Spaces ft. Bassie Blue (2020)

With the addition of the exceedingly talented, Grammy-nominated Brandon “Blue” Hamilton to the production team, “Empty Spaces” received a face-lift in this updated remix of the song. “Empty Spaces” is a break up anthem celebrating one’s self-worth, and knowing when to walk away.  With its dance hall beat, its eery vocalized synth effects, and empowering lyrics, this song will pull on your heart strings while leaving you empowered.

This remix of “Empty Spaces” was released January 17th, 2020.

Lie To Me

Lie to me (2019)

“Lie to Me” was written in 2018 as a sexy anthem to show women how to play by their own rules in relationships. With women frequently fielding endless advice on how to behave romantically, this track flips the script. “Lie to Me” is a fun, sassy response to the “damsel in distress” archetype, encouraging women to take what they want in a relationship - and nothing less.

This song was produced in conjunction with Focal Productions, Nova Noir Productions, and Bassie Blue Productions. “Lie to Me” dropped on August 30th, 2019.
